May/June RUE Magazine

Happy Friday friends! I'm looking forward to a few fun things this weekend. Tonight I'm heading out for coffee, followed by a movie with my bestie M from Little Blond Bird. Saturday night M's holding a little fundraiser at her place to raise money for CARE Canada. She'll be selling some lightly used clothes, books and jewellery. I'm excited because she is the best hostess ever and always has delicious little snacks and drinks for her guests! Other than that, I'm hoping to get some cleaning done around here, and maybe do a little gardening.

If you're looking for something to do for a little while either at work today, or some time this weekend, check out the May/June issue of the online magazine, Rue. It's full of bright beautiful photos and lots of inspiration for Summer living and decorating. I absolutely love this magazine. It fills a place in my heart that's been empty ever since Domino Magazine left the scene.

Enjoy, and have a great weekend!!

Ivy & Piper

If you haven't joined the millions of readers currently reading hip online magazines (web-zines), you are missing out! I've recently subscribed to a few interior design related sites (for free!), and they are a breath of fresh air! Don't get me wrong, I still love my giant stack of actual magazines...but it's great to get a new issue online once a month.

I recently discovered Ivy & Piper, another design win out of Australia. The webzine is tagged "fashion for the home", and I couldn't agree more! The issues are created by founders Melanie and Elizabeth, two interior enthusiasts who met at design college. They have managed to create a simple, fun and unique webzine full of delightful eye candy. Check out a few photos from their debut issue:

The Wishlist: Wish #5

There's nothing like a fresh, gleaming new issue of my favorite magazine. My eyes light up at the grocery store when I see the new issue of In Style, Glamour, Canadian House & Home, and Elle Canada...just to name a few.

I often bring those new issues home and save them for a stressful day, or a day where I have nothing to do but relax. I snuggle up on the couch with a tea and a blanket, and I completely zone-out of real life, and zone-in to the world of color, ideas and possibilities popping off of every page.

That is why Wish #5 is a subscription to any (all?) of the above mentioned monthly magazines. Although I do appreciate the perfectly mint condition of a magazine purchased at a book store, pharmacy or grocery store, I also love anticipating the arrival of my new issue in the mail!

Domino Magazine

I just finished flipping through my stack of Domino magazines, and I can not get over how colorful and cheerful every issue was. Unfortunately, our Domino magazine is no longer with us...another victim of this economy. Here are a few of my favorite images from the delightful and inspiring issues.

And last but not least, my favorite:
