A Little Christmas Wish

I don't know where you are while you are reading this, but I am in Ottawa, and it is getting COLD here! Each day is a little cooler than the last, and I've even had to scrape the frost off of my car windows a few times. I have to admit that I am enjoying the cold air a little more than I usually do, but that probably won't last very long. I'm pretty wimpy when it comes to being outside in Winter. That is why I have a little Christmas wish (wish #11 on my Christmas wishlist) for this cute pom-pom hat from Gap! I think it is adorable, and it looks pretty warm. I'll be outside walking my dog, Cooper, on a daily basis, so I need a cute hat like this. Plus, all of mine from previous seasons are a little old looking.

It comes in two colors, and I can't decide which one I like more:

Fun Bridesmaid's Dress

As a big fan of Project Runway, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Season 6' Carol Hannah Whitfield has her own Etsy shop! Carol Hannah was a fan favorite (for sure my favorite of the season), for her beautiful dresses and her gracious and sweet personality. Her Etsy shop features bridal and bridesmaids gowns, and they are gorgeous (and affordable)! This bridesmaids dress is my favorite:

Blog Discovery: Windlost

I just came across this blog, Windlost, and it is fabulous! It's mainly home decorating / design inspired, which is a perfect fit with my daily reads. AND, to all of my Calgary friends....the writer lives in Calgary!

The Wishlist: Wish #10

I read a cute story a while back about a mom and daughter who share a bracelet. The bracelet represents that they are both there for each other, and that they love each other no matter what. They take turns wearing the bracelet based on who needs the reminder more that day. I think it's such a brilliant idea! (and completely dorky and corny too...I know!)

I'm hoping to start this tradition with my daughter too. I found this simple necklace at Magpie. It's by Mimi & Marge, a fabulous jewelry company based in Indonesia. They work together with the local people and craftsmen to make high-quality, hand-crafted pieces at fair trade.

I hope my daughter loves it as much as I do!

Wish #9....My Favorite Item So Far...

I already know it...I dread it...but I know it's coming...my 2011 New Years resolution. And I know what mine is going to be. (dramatic drum roll...) I'm making a resolution to do proper meal planning at the beginning of the week, and make a healthy dinner each night. People, this means that there are fires to start, meals to burn, and many spills and messes to clean, come 2011. But, I figure that every chef starts somewhere right?! I'm not awful in the kitchen, but I'm definitely not great...yet.

What better way to start my year of ruining, I mean cooking, than to don this adorable and classy apron! I think that if I feel sassy and adorable while I'm learning new recipes, then I can do anything.

I found it on Amazon, and I think it's the nicest apron I've ever seen. I really want it. (Zach, that's a huge hint to you...)

Mirrored Bedside Tables: Inspiration

My house is somewhat starting to come together. The living room is finally clear of boxes, piles of paper, dust bunnies...you know, the usual suspects. Unfortunately, a lot of the items that were removed from the living room have made an appearance in my bedroom. There was just no where else to put them right now. I am vowing to have them out of my room by the end of 2010, which gives me a month and a half to get to work!

I've always envisioned an eclectic-meets-hotel type of bedroom for myself, and I think that mirrored nightstands would be a perfect touch. Plus, they provide great storage! I've seen some around at a few boutiques in the Byward Market, but I've never ventured in to check them out. Now, you can be sure that I will be doing research, checking kijiji and Used Ottawa, perusing at some local shops and hopefully purchasing some before the new year.

Here are just a couple of photos I found for some inspiration:
